A Day in the Life of a Bird

It may sound quite boring to most, but it is actually quite interesting. Simon is a 14 and a half year old Maroon Belly Conure. I have had him since he was three months old, and he is quite a good talker, has an attitude, and likes to dance and sing. His best friend is Brewster, an 8 and a half year old Sun Conure who likes to eat all the time, does not talk, but likes to scream all the time. He likes to play hide and seek, but overall is a very tame bird.

Birds are quite interesting because they can entertain themselves, they interact with humans, and understand a lot more than we give them credit for. I have raised these two parrots by myself up to the last year. Now my wife and I both interact with them, and my Sun Conure has grown quite attached to her.

Birds are quite messy. They like to chew on things, they throw their food. You have to handle them on a regular basis, and they are very skiddish. They don’t trust just anyone.

P.S. If I do not take my wife to a Monster Truck show, I will get shoved into a giant snow bank like this one:

Yes, that would be cold!
